SW Ridge Climb
Climbed Berrenda South via the SW ridge starting from Caje Trail Rd. This route does require some Class III scrambling. The lands surrounding Berrenda Mtns North and South are slowly filling with homes on large lots. There were about a dozen homes on the west side of the mountain. All the roads are signed and graded, easily traveled in a passenger vehicle provided the road is not muddy. From NM-27 I turned onto B004 which is signed, Berrenda Road. From Berrenda Rd I turned onto Caje Trail Rd which runs along the west side of Berrenda Mtn South. This area is still open so I was able to pull over away from any homesites. I suggest anyone contemplating hiking this peak to view Google Maps satellite view to get an idea of routing issues. After hiking Berrenda South I hiked over to Berrenda North then returned to the saddle. From there I descended down using cattle trails. There are five homes below the saddle area which is why I avoided parking in that area. Most homes in the area appear to be occupied part-time. There was however some activity in area.

Bagged this one after missing out on neighboring O Bar O Peak. Approached from the west to the adjoining ridge between Berrenda North and South. This one was a blast, and as with most desert peaks, had great views!
