"Got tight last night on absinthe and did knife tricks. Great success shooting the knife into the piano. The woodworms are so bad and eat hell out of all furniture that you can always claim the woodworms did it."

Fun Hike. Very steep in the beginning with Excellent viewsRight from the get go it gets steep - the upside is you have decent views immediately. Clear cold and brilliantly sunny and (even hot) in the sunshine. There is a long slog that passes through old woods with thick evergreens draped in heavy snow. Very pretty. Like Narnia. Coming down you have to get over a little slide with a protruding rock on your left side. That was a little tricky but my nylon pants provided enough slide that I was 2 feet airborne over the lip and missed the rocky landing to land in fluffy soft snow instead. It helps if you push off the rock on the left and YES, duck a little so you don't wack it with your head. Then you'll be nicely airborne. I thought the way up would be rocky and icy, but it was snow packed and pleasant to walk over. Used snow shoes the entire time. One of my favorite winter hikes for sure.

Scorching dayTwo hours and forty minutes to the top from the Garden parking lot. Excellent views and a pine marten on the summit begging for snacks. It was a fine open slab climb uphill for quite a while, and overall the trail looks normally dry after the snow melts. Two hours and six minutes to descend.

Lost my CameraWe climbed Big Slide on 9/28/13 - beautiful day, however I lost my Canon digital camera. Stopped to get something out of my pack and left it on a rock near the beginning of the trail to the Brothers, near the Garden parking lot. Realized I left it behind 10 minutes later and went back to retrieve it but someone had already taken it. If you found my camera could you please call me at 518-424-5866. I'm really missing it - it was a gift from my sons. Thank you!

Big Slide Mtn.Summited Big Slide Mtn. 4199' on a beautiful spring day. We parked at the Garden trailhead in Keene and hiked over the Brothers to get to the summit of Big Slide. The hike was pretty gradual, with some iced over sections in the shady areas, but otherwise the trail was much drier than I thought it would be for mud season. An easy mountain and a great day hike to stay in shape.

Via the brothers trailGreat view of the great range, we were fortunate to have a sunny and clear day. Saw a pine marten at the summit, it wasn't afraid of humans whatsoever.

One of the most beautiful hikes in the ADK'sOne of the most picturesque hikes in the whole of the park. Views of distant peaks and the valley are stunning. Plenty of black flies though :(

Early Spring HikeHiked up Big slide from the garden parking lot. Great day and a very scenic hike up The Brothers and from the summit. Did need my Stabilicers about half way up because of the ice on the trail still. But temps around 70f made it an awesome day.

Big Slide via BrothersExcellent view of the Great Range, and some good light fun scrambling on The Brothers. Right near the summit there's an awesome little shoot from the trail that looks way down the mountain. Easy day hike.
