Awesome day  Sucess!

Lunadog, Mark, Natasha and I headed out in the morning to hit Bird Mountain and tick off the last Indian Heaven Wilderness peak I needed to do. Luna and I tried a couple weeks earlier but were thwarted by early snow, the wrong shoe choice, gloomy skies and an inability to see where we were going. Went back with overkill shoes and GPS's this time.

Before we got to the trailhead we found a dog lost on the side of the road with a backpack on him. He was friendly and obviously scared. We searched the woods and found no one else so we took him back to the ranger station where there were signs up about him. A woman had lost him the night before and been out searching for him. They called her from there but we actually ran into her on the road back to Bird and told her where he was. Was a very cool start to the day.

Enjoyed sunny beautiful skies and easy going down the trail and up the south ridge. Awesome views of the big 4 volcanoes and other IH peaks. Decided to go on the ridge north to loop back. Some bushwhacking was necessary but it all worked out. We enjoyed excellent pizza at Solstice in Bingen before heading back home.

Adventure Thrash  Sucess!

Did a loop out of Cultis Campground: Lemei Rock, then thrashed up Bird Mountain and headed out north along the PCT to Sawtooth (tho' didn't know the route up it at the time). Beautiful day, great views.
