70 Peaks In 30 Days  Sucess!

This was part of a month long mostly solo peakbagging trip in which I hiked every day and got 70 peaks in 30 days. On this day I joined my buddy Keith (IronHiker) for a very special list finish. We climbed the true summit.

For numerous photos and brief route descriptions see the trip report.

True summit  Sucess!

First stop on a Lower Peaks SLO sweep. The true summit (YDS 5.6 according to Mountain Project) was my first sport climb. Adam Walker (gimpilator) led the route. Fun hike, then did Cerro Alto and Valencia.

Central Summit  Sucess!

Did the central (highest) summit with Daryn Dodge and Kathy Rich; easy fifth class. The climb is bolted with four hangers, plus two bolts on top with biners for an easy rappel off.

Spectacular views.

Great summit!  Sucess!

After much soul- & internet-searching, decided on SLO as a weekend climbing destination, instead of the storm-riddled Sierra. Glad to have done so! A beautiful area, that I've driven past/through (& managed to have spent a little bit of time IN as well), without sampling the climbs. Great day, climbing, views, & partner! Did Dead Rat Crack below (TR), as well as Flakes Over Fresno (led), as well as the true summit (led & soloed). Hot, but a great day with Ivana!

11/14
2nd summit of the Tri-Tip Challenge. Did the maybe 1 ft. lower neighboring pinnacle (not the hiker's summit); didn't feel like soloing 5.6 slab in my hiking boots when I was already tired & sore from climbing :) Fond memories & beautiful views.

Crowded  Sucess!

With 300 of my closest friends on a busy saturday morning. Since I was solo, I passed on the true summit block, but scrambled up to the slightly lower one right next to it. Also climbed Cerro Alto and Valencia to clean out the LPC peaks in the area.

Hiked, but Didn't Climb

I hiked up the trail on 12 November 2000 and 15 November 2000. As I recall, though, I did not actually stand on the highest point - my usual criterion for counting a summit. I have raised my standards since then. So, next time...

Bishop Peak  Sucess!

hiked the trail to the summit with Pat and then scrambled up the east and west summit blocks before passing on the highest block which would be best climbed with a rope for descent although one might use the numerous bolts for an "assisted" free solo!

From Highland TH  Sucess!

With Matthew, we were stymied with the summit block which we didn't know about. Came back a month later with the kids and rope. Trip Report.
