Super - lots of bugs.
From Ute Creek TH. Great summit with awesome views. Lost Creek Wilderness is a nice area.
With 11485, 11423 & "Bison View".
Ute Creek TH. Warm for Feb. Windy!! Met some others through 14ers.com for this hike.
Climbed with Scot. Not much snow, the storms from the week before largely missed this area. A surprisingly pleasant weather day - sunny and calm despite the cold. Very cool rock formations, would be worth another visit some day to scramble around on.
Years go by - not sure what happened to this summit log in SP. Anyhow - tired ladies and tired dogs- great autumn hike!
CMC hike, there were 10 of us. We started around 8:30AM and got back around 4:45. It was supposed to snow, but it started out mostly sunny. There was patchy snow and ice on the lower sections, and deeper snow from Bison Pass to the summit plateau. Snowshoes would have helped on this section, especially on the return. It took almost exactly 5 hours to reach the summit. It did start snowing and the wind picked up while we were near the summit, but it let up once we got below treeline. Dig those nifty granite monoliths up there!
Great hike. Was windy once we got out of the trees and onto the tundra.
A little breezy in the parking lot and near the top, but a picture-perfect day to head up Bison Peak. Climbing up through the rocks and through some slots to the top was fun and more challenging than heading around the side to reach the summit, though not necessarily recommended for the way back.
Camped along the trail on the east side of Bison Arm (on the way to McCurdy) and enjoyed a nice summit of Bison the next morning. Still one of my favorite areas in CO.
Awesome hike with great views of all the rock formations. Great Views on the summit.
Backpacked in and camped near Bison Pass. Hiked to summit next morning and hiked back out. We approached from Ute Creek TH
Decided to hike this peak for the first time and it was a really cool experience. The views are excellent and the summit is very unusual due to the strange rock formations. GPS said it was about 4200 feet of elevation gain and 12 miles round trip.
Some of the best views of any Colorado hike. So glad we spent Memorial Day weekend here. Beautiful and no crowd.
Mellow day with Lee and Hillz.
Amazing rock formation, glad i went out today and did it.
2nd time February 01, 2015 with Wendy.
It was a foggy day and hiking amongst the rocks was errily spooky, but really fun.
Beautiful day, beautiful place! I thought I'd be the last to start when I saddled up at 11am, but there were two groups behind me.
Wife, pup and I. What a beautiful area!!
