Storm clouds form over the Black Canyon of the Gunnison. The north rim is on the left and the river flows from top to bottom. Imaged in August 2006.
...capture of those clouds!
With a little help from a GD filter. :-) Thanks! --mark d.
What a cool place! I'll have to go there some time! Great shot!
Thanks, Mtybumpo! It is an amazing place. This is one of the less dramatic images. Probably the best view is from Exclamation Point on the North Rim. It shows what this canyon is really like at its deepest and narrowest. If you're interested, you can see an image of my son and I at Exclamation Point here:

BTW: Congrat's on the upcoming wedding! :-)
I checked out that pictue and is is REALLY amazing! Thanks for your congrats too! ;)
I really like this shot, as well as most all of your photos. The lightness in the bottom half to the darkness of the cliffs and cloud - great contrast.
Thanks, Ragu! I'll admit to using a GD filter when I took this shot. --mark d.
Yes, but knowing when and how to use the tools make the artist. Nice work!
of this great canyon!
It is a great canyon. And thanks for your comments on my various photos. --mark d.
