Third Times a Charm
Two separate incidents kept me on Colvin staring at Blake without being able to hit it. FINALLY! Nine years after the first attempt, I summited a wintery, but quickly thawing Blake. Worth it!

Blake Colvin - Narnia welcomes you
Hiked in with my son and husband. Brilliant blue skies, no wind, fresh powder. The trail signs were at my ankles because the snow base was so deep. I want to go back!!!! Camped 3 nights out. Cold but seriously fun.

Beautiful Day
Hiked over to Blake Peak after Mt Colvin (of course). The hike over and back was rougher and took longer than I expected, but interesting. Too bad there are no good views. There is almost a really awesome view of Elk Lake just before the summit, but the trees get in the way too much. Beautiful day out, couldn't ask for better! Glad I got out to enjoy it. 10 hrs r/t from parking lot.

Colvin and Blake
Started from Ausable. Got Covin and Blake, a two-fer.
Summited Blake Peak 3960' on a cold, wet, and snowy spring day. We started from St. Huberts, making the long trek up and over Mount Colvin via the Lake Road/Fish Hawk cliff route that meets up with the Gill Brook Trail. From here Mount Colvin was merely an obstacle since we had previously hiked up it last summer. The trail down Colvin to Blake was very steep, icey, and windy. The trail up Blake was packed with wet snow, soaking our hiking boots full of icey water. Snow continued to come in as we made it to the uneventful summit of Blake. To leave we had the priviledge of hiking back up the steep, icey, and exhausting trail to the summit of Colvin, and making our 6 mile hike out from there, this time following the Gill Brook Trail. A very long, wet, cold, and tiring day.

Tough Slog
Hike up Colvin was ok, unseasonably warm, but snow conditions were brutal over to Blake and back, postholing, snowshoes I had didn't help, tough trip glad I made it though, wish I could do it in mid-winter to go across Ausable Lake.

It's surprising how far from Colvin this seems when you actually hike it. Great day, solo, no one around ...

meant business
So the first time I did Colvin, it was in the snow, and I wasn't even aware that Blake, right next to it, was on the ADK 46er list. I wasn't exactly going for the 46 then. So I decided to go back and do Blake and Colvin again. I was too tired from driving all the way from NJ, and not getting enough sleep from working overnights, that I got Colvin, and said f&^k it to Blake. THIS time I meant business and made sure I had enough sleep and energy to get Blake, no matter what. And that's just what I did.

Long day
This was a very long day of hiking over 22miles climbing 5000ft +.After climbing Dial,Nippletop and Colvin,Blake was no easy challenge.Once on the summit there were only partial veiws to reward .The hike in was very wet and rugged as well as the trek out....Jim W
Im fairly confident that I made it to the summit, but cant really be sure since there were no views. There are a few cool little slabs to negotiate on the way (and back) from Colvin

Blake Peak
Climbed with Colvin via the Colvin trail from the Ausable club. Beautiful fall colors along the whole way. Limited views of the Great Range from the summit area. Stopped by Indian Head on the way down.

Leach Trail
Lots of thunder, 4th 46er of the day. Heavy downpours all the way to the truck.
As usual--a beautiful fall day in the mountains. Hiked Colvin & Blake with Paul. Relatively steep in some spots and some areas where I used my hands just as much as my feet! Good times. 6/46
