Amazing mountain
Drove by Jeep to Lake Como. Pitched our tent next to some friends and then climbed Blanca Peak the next day. It was a quick hike - 5 hrs roundtrip from Lake Como. The vistas are stunning. Can't wait to return for Little Bear and Ellingwood.
Some day I'd like to return due to foggy low visibility conditions. I don't remember exactly when I climbed Blanca, but it was probably around 1997 or so.

Standard Route
Slow day for me, intended to do Little Bear but after feeling sick all morning just made the stroll up Blanca. Beautiful area, I'd recommend camping above Lake Como if you want more quiet and privacy.

Traverse
I went up Blanca first and traversed across to Ellingwood. I didn't think Blanca was quite as hard as I expected. Weather was great and the views were beautiful. Traverse was easy Class 3 and enjoyable.

Regular Route Solo
Before I knew how to "go light" 50lbs pack. Deep powder on approach, postholing with snowshoes following an old skier track. -40F low. Nice consolidated snow higher up, not too cold on summit day in the sun.

Climbed the NW Face on Little Bear and traversed to Blanca under stellar skies. One of the best routes I've ever done.

Blanca y Ellingwood
Hiked up to Blue Lakes and then did Blanca and Ellingwood. Great day and amazing views. Those were 14'ers number 9 and 10 this summer and were by far the coolest of them all. Camp at Blue Lakes instead of Como!!!

Lake Como
Long day hike. Snowed a little on me near the top.
One of my crazy fourteener trips. Camped at Lake Como, which was completely covered under ice and snow. A lot of snow. Did loose the track and started snow climbing the ridge between Little Bear and Blanca Peak. Duchess was afraid on this one.

In the Clouds
Clouds rolling in and out all morning and very wet slushy snow. It took me forever but I eventaually made it and got a few nice views between clouds.
Climbed with Susan, a ranger from Great Sand Dunes NM. Walked the road and watched some amazing driving. Camped above Como Lake. We were the only ones on the peak, rare for a Colorado 14eer!
First 14er. Solo trip. Camped just above Lake Como. Made the saddle between Blanca and Ellingwood, then up the airy ridge to the summit. Incredible views. Had the mountain to myself. Wish I'd climbed Ellingwood too.

Blanca/Ellingwood combo
Started from camp near Blue Lakes. Climbed the standard route and continued on to Ellingwood. Good weather, great views.
