Red Elderberry (Sambucus racemosa) is a deciduous shrub. It grows in forests in areas that receive large amounts of sunlight. Its flowers are creamy white. Shiny red fruits ripen from July to August. The fruits as well as the other parts of this plant are poisonous. Spinners Nature Preserve- May 2008.
