Blue Lakes Rock Glacier

Blue Lakes Rock Glacier

The Blue Lake Rock Glacier. Note the proximity of talus producing slopes and snowfields to the rock glaciers head. The east arm of this rock glacier is active due to the furrows, ridges, lack of vegetation and a steep frontal slope. The west arm does not have pronounced furrows or ridges leading to the conclusion that it is inactive or possibly in fossil form. Image modified by author (Google Earth, 1998).
