Typical of the scenery that you'll see while hiking the Blue Mesa Trail in Petrified Forest National Park, AZ. This trail is the best opportunity for the casual visitor to explore the fascinating geography of this region (short of a trip into the backcountry, which requires more preparation and a permit if the stay is overnight). Imaged in December 2009. This is the first of four SP images I shot during that hike (one, two and three).
