Boulter Peak  Sucess!

I parked at the end of the good graded road before it enters Black Rock Canyon and followed the 4WD road into Mill Canyon. There was quite a bit of snow from about the 6500' mark all the way to the summit. I got an early enough start that the snow held my weight on the way up but on the way down it was a different story. The views from the summit were absolutely spectacular. This may be the best centrally located peak I've climbed for 360 degree views.

Reminds me of my days in Idaho  Sucess!

I sure enjoyed all the snow I got to dig in and eat. Such a nice refresher on these hikes. The lake was splendid for a small soak as well. I do believe I quite enjoyed the vistas from this nob in the sky. I do believe.

Talk about a hidden gem  Sucess!

This hike had a lot of great hidden things in it. There are some awesome meadows, some nice stands of Aspen and Firs, and a lake, at least in May there was a lake. I'm sure it dries up by June or so. The views from the summit are breathtaking. It took 2 hours from where we parked down lower in the canyon. It's a bit steep for the first part, but overall it isn't bad. A very unexpected surprise.

May the Fourth be with You  Sucess!

It took about 2 hours to complete the trip. We were able to drive up the rough road pretty far, but it is rough. There was still a lot of snow in some places, and some mud. The lake was several feet deep, and there was a nice breeze. The view from the top is amazing...you can see all the high peaks around.

Loop  Sucess!

Parked at the start of Black Rock Canyon. Went up Black Rock Canyon to the saddle south of 7428. Climbed 7428, went back to the saddle and then up the north ridge of 8190. Made my way SW to Boulter Peak, going over 8280 en route. From Boulter Peak went north and crossed the basin at the west end of the "dry" lake which wasn't dry and looked kind of deep. I expected it to be just a few inches but I couldn't see the bottom. Then I went NW to Point 8250, followed the ridge NW back to the beginning of Mill Canyon, and took some dirt roads back to my car.

Hiked Mill Canyon  Sucess!

From near a junction with the Black Rock Canyon road, I went cross country a bit and then up the Mill Canyon jeep road to access the summit. About 9 miles round trip.
