Snow at the top  Sucess!

Gorgeous views on a clear cold day. Georgia sure makes their high point a great place to go. Just a few brave souls out. 19th HP.

HP #5: Grey and Beautiful  Sucess!

After a three-day section hike on the AT, we drove to Helen, GA (about 20 mi. from the summit) for showers and German food. An interesting local attraction with decent hotels and eateries. Breakfast at Hofer's Bakery was noteworthy for good coffee and strudel.

Brasstown Bald was an excursion on the way home. Walked up from the top parking lot - which we had to ourselves. Facilities were shuttered, but they looked interesting. The raw beauty of the view and the history of the area make this a great visit and summit in any case.

Cold and windy in late March, the start of the AT thru-hiking season. Though we saw hundreds of AT thru-hikers during our section hike, we did not see any on this summit. Most of them no doubt had their sights set on the North Carolina state line.

Highpoint #25  Sucess!

On a business trip gone awry ended up having two days of doing nothing in the Atlanta area. Needing to get outside for awhile I took the Jack's Knob trail up to the summit. Completely fogged in, tower closed and saw nothing.I ran into the "Brasstown Bald Buster" 5K that was going on. Heck, if I would have walked up the road I could have gotten a shirt for finishing "Georgia's Toughest 5K."

Enotah via Arkaquah Trail  Sucess!

Started out at the petroglyphs at track rock gap. great campsite on the ridge about 3.75 miles from the trailhead under a large rock. enough room for 2-person tent. made it to the top around 8am and it was still all foggy so no views, but a fun trail along the ridge made it all worthwhile. roundtrip was a little less than 11 miles and about 3000' total elevation gain

Return visit.  Sucess!

I had such a nice time driving through the country the last time, I decided to take a lady friend I had met in Atlanta on a nice Sunday drive. Oddly, warmer and clearer weather than last year in August--a wonderful clear day, and a nice drive through the little tourist town of Helen.

Second High Point  Sucess!

Living temporarily in Greeneville SC, I realized I could visit the "Southern Six-Pack" (GA, SC, NC, TN, KY, and VA) reasonably easily, so one Sunday morning I took off. I was disappointed to find the summit fogged in, but the ranger was nice and opened the locked door guarding the benchmark so I could get my photo.

A trip back home...  Sucess!

I had completed about 100 miles on the Appalachian Trail in Pennsylvania before attempting this summit, so I was in relatively good shape.

Georgia is home for me, and I've summited Brasstown Bald many times in the past. I attacked this one from the first parking area and made excellent time getting to the top. Passed two people, one young guy and one older gentleman, both struggling really hard to make it. A muggy day, and somewhat cloudy, but the view from the top was all I remembered and then some.

HP #9  Sucess!

Number 9 for us... took the easy way up and traveled the .6 mile trail from the parking lot. Had we been there a few minutes earlier we probably wouldn't have seen a thing because of the fog, but the view was nice. Windy, chilly. Waved to the live cameras for folks back home. Ate at Hole in the Wall diner in Blairsville. Nice place. Looking forward to moving on now to double digits.
