Re: Breithorn - K. MatterhornUnfortunately not. Just from the Swiss side. We only had a few days in Switzerland and I couldn't imagine leaving without having climbed a single mountain. So we walked up the Oberrothorn and did Breithorn the next day before going back to the Netherlands again.
About the skiing. To be honest: I do a lot of climbing but I have never been skiing. I guess you like the combination?

Re: Breithorn - K. Matterhornski mountaneering is quite useful for two reasons:
You can enjoy the downhill (if not tired for the ascent)
You can sunmmit several high mountains in late spring/early summer when there is a lot of snow, deep and melting, preventing walking up.
Of course it's necessary pay attention to avalanches....
