Up the South Ridge - although there had been over 50" of snow the previous 6 days, the winds had kept the upper ridgeline basically barren.

Incredible ...

Was Bryce Canyon completely buried, or were they able to keep the Park's road open all the way to Rainbow Point ?

Re: Incredible ...

Great question! We actually snowshoed in Bryce on the way home. The road through the park was closed at mile marker 3. You could get to Sunset, Sunrise and Inspiration Points but not Rainbow. We went down the Fairyland Loop trail and no one had been on it in days. SHHH, don't tell anyone... go to the park in the middle of winter, with temps at 9 below, mid week and you will have it to yourself ... we sure did. We were the only car in the parking lot. Spectacular doesn't start to describe it!

Re: Incredible ...

Thanks, and I get the punchline.

My wife and I visited Bryce in July, and there
were so many people we had to "take a number"
just to get to the NPS boundary.
