AMAZING  Sucess!

Wow, what an obstacle course! Never harder than class 3 even though it looks intimidating. Try and hitch up to the trailhead if you do not have a jeep. One of the best hikes in Las Vegas region.

Favorite Red Rock Scramble  Sucess!

Even with all the endless options, this is my favorite Red Rock scramble

Bridge Mountain  Sucess!

Hiked 3.1 miles up the road to the trailhead from where I couldn't make it any farther (comfortably anyways).

Beautiful climb. Saw a family of bighorn sheep. The scramble up the crack looked way more difficult from a distance than it was. Even easier going down. The tinaja at the top is nasty, filled with algae and dead birds.

Hit North Peak on my way back.

Another great day on Bridge  Sucess!

I met three people who had turned back at the class 3 crack/wall. None were local, so they'd come a long way. I tried to convince them it looked way harder than it actually was, but they weren't having it.

Very Fun!  Sucess!

Excellent climb from the Lovell Canyon side. Loved the "obstacle course" feel of the route across the sandstone. Trip Report

Beautiful Mountain  Sucess!

A repeat of last April's trip, i.e., up Pine Creek to the end, then up the slabs and ledges to the saddle before the crack up. Great trip for a New Year's Day.

Fun route, tough road  Sucess!

Drove up Rocky Gap from RRNCA. Great hike, it's a shame someone painted those black marks but they do help you in a couple places. The infamous crack near the top isn't that bad. The hike itself is much easier than Wilson, which I did two weeks ago. That's a good thing, since the road is very tough to drive on. I have an Xterra Pro 4-x, and though it handled the road like a champ, it was too nerve-wracking for me.

I met a nice couple who came up via Pine Creek. They said the route was easy and well-cairned, so maybe I'll do that next time.

Via Pine Creek  Sucess!

All the way to the back of Pine Creek, then right up the sandstone to the base of the infamous Bridge Mountain crack, then up the standard route from there. We returned via the Rocky Gap Summit, down the road to the car shuttle at Willow Springs. 13 miles with a group from LVMC.

Once Again!  Sucess!

This time I took Lorraine along. It was painfully windy, with gusts that could cause one to lose balance on some of the sketchy exposed portions. I made it to the summit, but nearly had my head blown off by the wind. On the way back, I took a side trip to the summit of North Peak.

Eye Surgery  Sucess!

I had some minor eye surgery scheduled for 4:15 p.m., so I took the day off and decided to climb Bridge Mountain before hand. I parked part way up Rocky Gap Road and hiked about a mile up the road to where the use trail begins its ascent to the escarpment. I had great weather, much fun on the sandstone climbs, and made it back to my car in six hours and ten minutes for the 9.6 mile trip. I was in the doctor's office by 4:05! What a beautiful day.

Parked partway up the side road, where it crosses the wash. A fun, leisurely start to the 2013 season. Trip report.
