Don’t be like Victor
Great birthday trip for our first time to the GC!
Left the rim just after sunrise, took a break at Indian Garden, and were having lunch on the river by 11:30a. Despite high exposure in the Devil’s Corkscrew, the pace up was surprisingly quick and we were back on the Rim before 6p. Worth every extra step for the solitude it earned!

I hiked this trail four times:one time down and three times up. I never hiked it down during the day. I have no idea how it looks.

With Med-School Buds and New Pals
With Jon, Terri, and Ryan. We went down South Kaibab and returned via Bright Angel. We met some Canadian geology students on the way back up. One of them was hyponatremic and hypoglycemic so we helped them out some and slowed down our pace considerably.
Overnighter at Bright Angel campground with boyfriend and his eleven year old son. Steep trail, beautiful views, family bonding time.

Easy Hiking
Beautiful trail made really easy but the relatively easy hiking. We hiked this to do Garden Creek (4CIV). Started at 7am, got back the rim at 6:45pm. We also went to the river. Awesome trails with steller views. Indian Gardens is beautiful as well. It would have been too hot on the hike back up except for the fact there were a bunch of clouds that helped cover the sun
Top was icy but still had a great hike. Cannot wait to go back.

S Rim to Bright Angel CG and back
Snowy start, then mud. Weather improved every day but temps remained below average. Camped-1st nite Indian Garden CG/2nd & 3rd Bright Angel CG/4th Indian Garden CG then out. Second time up and down, last in 1970.

Snowy
I have hiked this trail 6 times, I believe. It is one of my favorite trails. My dad and I tend to go during snowstorms to get cancellations at Phantom Ranch, so most times it has been snowy as I hiked down.
several hikes over the past 15 years, I like more South Kaibab - better views.

Beautiful
Really wonderful coming back up this way (I came down from North Kaibab). I loved the frequent water access especially. The weather was just right in October.
pleasant at Phantom Ranch, but snowing and cold at the rim

Not so Bright Angel
Breakfasted at the rim on last day of a trip and was talked into (Thanks Dennis Goldsmith) a same day rim to river and back trip via Bright Angel, prior to our midnight flight. We scampered down (those warning signs don't apply to us, we thought)and had a nice lunch at Pine Creek Beach on the river. The trudge back up was long, hard and heat strokey. We deserved every broiling inch of it. We just made it back to Phoenix for our flight - but no time to have dinner.

S. Kaibab down/Bright Angel up
We went down the South Kaibab on 3-24 (My 51st B-Day!). 3 nights at the bottom of the canyon and then up BA Trail to Indian Gardens on 3-27 and then out on 3-28. Weather was INCREDIBLE, with daytime temps ranging between 68 to 75 degrees at the river and night time lows in the mid thirties. Lots of ice at the rim and really enjoyed our instep crampons. Not a necessity but really appreciated. Great time of the year in the canyon.
