From Bear Creek Staging Area  Sucess!

Hiked up Briones Peak with my brother Alan in mild temps, reminiscing about all the running we did in the area as youth and young adults. I hadn't been to the summit since my senior year in high school (1985), and at that time, there weren't any trees obstructing the views. Been up Mott, Briones, Flat Top, and Russell Peaks a half dozen times at least, scrambling/bushwhacking the south face of Russell for the hell of it.

Loop From Bear Creek  Sucess!

Both peaks (and several others along the way). Beautiful day. The calender says, 'winter', but I wouldn't call it that.

From Briones Road  Sucess!

Was in Martinez for a meeting in the morning and bagged Briones and Mott while in the area. Drove up Briones Road which put me in the middle between the two peaks, got Briones first but felt silly heading down so quickly so went over to Mott next. Still felt silly so made sure to tag both the high point and the lower, named summit of Mott. This required ducking under a barbed wire fence which made the day complete. Trip report is here.

Abrigo Valley/Mott Peak  Sucess!

Been doing one or the other of the loop walks most of my life.
The Mott Peak Trail sure gets the waterworks going on a hot day. Had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Mott back in the day.

Bear Creek  Sucess!

Nice afternoon starting from Bear Creek up the Seaborg Tail to the Briones Crest Trail. Then all the way around to Mott Peak and back down to Old Briones Road. The road/trail on Briones Crest is fantastic with constant views.

Nice hike  Sucess!

Went up Briones peak with my hubby, dog, and a dog walking group. It was a nice outing, and I really liked the views from the top, especially towards Mt. Diablo. Here's a more detailed trip report:

Nice views etc.  Sucess!

I have visited these peaks many times as from Oakland, Briones is an easy destination and good workout climbing up various steep slopes throughout the park.

I visited Briones park and hiked to the top during a period of very hot weather. Upon revisiting the area during 1998 I therefore decided to pass by ...
