"Brower's Route" of Fin Dome,...

"Brower's Route" of Fin Dome, described in Secor as simply a Class 4 on the south ridge. Has anyone climbed this with success?

BTW, photo is temporary.

We couldn't find it....

My little bro and I did Fin Dome as a dayhike out of Onion Valley in an attempt to get Clarence King. After I bummed out of CK, we decided on Fin Dome with no beta other than a brief talk with Bob about it. we searched that south side for a route, actually started up it, and I decided to come down (my little bro was willing). We moved over to the west and headed up on the left side of your photo, which was a class 4 with a couple easy class 5 moves.

Well at least you tried it and then went up the other way. I went out there after 4 different peaks and came back with Mt. Squat due to bad weather. How far did you make it up the south side?

Re: We couldn't find it....

That's a bummer about the weather. If you ever get back to the Rae Lakes basin, Fin Dome is a nice warm-up for any peak. We only went up about 20+ft on the south side before I chickened out and we went up the southwest side. The views were pretty sweet since the dome is situated in the center of those two basins. Here is my little bro Curt over looking the Rae Lakes.
