Standard Route  Sucess!

Part of a 4 day road trip with Heather. We also did Stawamus Chief, Price, Clinker, and Golden Ears. The parking situation in Lions Bay is super-lame. Most of the hike up Brunswick is pretty boring, but the last 200 vertical meters is awesome. The knife-edge before the summit is pretty exciting.

Mount Brunswick Trail  Sucess!

Particularly impressed by the views of Howe Sound. Also cool to see such a rugged alpine area so close to Vancouver. 3 hr 20 min up, 2 hr 45 min down.

Great day out  Sucess!

The day stated out as a misty one even though the forecast called for sun. I was worried that I wouldn't have clear views when I got to the top of this very unrelenting upwards hike. But the sun burnt off the mist before noon and I got great views of Howe Sound covered in fog below. Once I got to the ridge and on to the summit, the views were fantastic once again. There was such a variety of peaks to be seen - jagged spires and glaciated ranges dotted the horizon. It's a long day for sure with over 5000 feet of elevation gain. I didn't see much point to lugging my bike up the first section as the scrambles guidebook suggested. For me, the terrain was mostly too steep and rough to ride uphill or downhill. I guess it did save me some time and effort on the way down for the sections I was able to ride it - but it probably didn't justify the effort of pushing it up! All in all, a great scramble with many huckleberries feasted upon during the day!

Great hike

This is my favorite view in the north shore mountains, especially when fog sits on the water below. Been up many times, I take my friends here that dont climb mountains to show them what its all about. 1820 m almost straight above Howe Sound it is quite a special view that cannot be matched by many other coastal ranges in the world. I was very pleased on one fine day I summited to see Mt. Rainier clearly far to the south.

One day I decided to bushwack down creek that runs from between Harvey and brunswick. As usual in the coast, it was very dificult going through devils club and alder, many small cliffs to avoid, I dont recomend it unless well prepared and looking for some serious adventure. The creek turns you up back on the main trail farther down.
