The lookout may be more picturesque than the view itself...  Sucess!

Took the stairs up. What a gem! Was lucky to have seen the view just two months before the Rough Fire swept through... noticed *many* dead trees ripe for kindling. Thank goodness the lookout didn't burn down.

Amazing views ...

Sorry Dave, late signing this -- when I was a NPS summer employee in 1993, my brother and his wife came over and we enjoyed the views @ Buck Rock. Minimal crowds back then,
even on the warmest days !

climbed/walked as a child  Sucess!

Hiked and camped here several times as a youth, even did some rock climbing near the lookout as part of a course.

Route Climbed: the easy way! the stairs :) Date Climbed: September 19, 2004  Sucess!

Beautiful view from the top, enjoyed talking to the lookout and watching the high altitude hummingbirds at her feeder. It was a very cold day up there, though. The first storm of the season had just passed through...

Route Climbed: Leatherface (5.8) Date Climbed: 16 June 1997  Sucess!

Similar positive hold like that of Owens River Gorge, Leatherface offered a variety of things: horizontal cracks, face, friction and high quality rock. Nice bolt and gear route.

Route Climbed: Mowing The Yawn (.10a) Date Climbed: 16 June 1997  Sucess!

At first, I was a bit intimidated to try MTY as a lead climb, especially with an overhanging base to anchors ratio of 40 feet! But once I scoped the route, psyched myself up and started up on the huge jugs, the fear had fizzled. 'Mowing The Yawn' is one of THE BEST Sierra sport climbs I have ever been on! Amazing vista, clean rock and no crowds!
