Up from Clear Creek Campground. Took the Bull Flat route. Clear trail all the way until Bull Flats and then an easy, sagebrushy bushwhack to the road leading to the summit. Unfortunately, wildfire smoke obscured any far views. Many a cow atop the Bull Mtn.
Drove my 3 wheeler to the top. I love these mountains so much please keep them quiet. I want to ski that cirque so bad.

Way out of the way
I drove out here after hiking Thurston Peak earlier in the day. It was a long way but at least the "hike" was easy. :) Camped lower on the mountain that night and then drove to Willard Basin and hiked Willard Peak the next morning. It was a long weekend but it got me to within 5 high points of finishing up the state.

Via Lake Fork
Snowshoed up Lake Fork from Clear Creek Campground. Along the way we entered the gorgeous Bull Lake Cirque, with its frozen over lake (marsh). Rosevere Point looked impressive from the cirque.
We moved slow, and took 4.5 hours to cover the approximately 5.5 miles to the summit from the campgroud. The return hike with the track now in only required 3 hours. It was Peter and I on the hike.

I hung a swing from a pine tree / Swing so high the Bull Mountain can't get to me
I was nursing an injury but desperately in need of some time outside. Thus I took a quick 2 days to hit the relatively easy Canyon, Owyhee, Cassia, and Box Elder (UT) county high points.
Okay so the road. This is not the worst road I have ever driven; it is not even the worst road I drove on that particular day. What you can expect are some relatively benign stretches interrupted by rocky areas that absolutely require 4wd and high clearance. From the gravel roads (drivable by any vehicle to both the west and the east; I approached via the former & exited via the latter) it is about 6 miles. I would plan on that 6-mile stretch taking at least 30 minutes to drive one-way.
Zero is number of cattle seen by the dogs and me on and around Bull Mountain, but I am guessing they were contained at lower elevations in preparation for the oncoming winter.
This is a very broad summit area. We parked next to the short path leading to the upright dead branch marking the summit register (an old grated Parmesan cheese container - solid idea!). With no benchmark in sight, the dogs and I walked the adjacent path opposite the road from the register, thinking perhaps this was the path’s purpose. Yet at the north end of the summit, we found this new-ish path trails farther down the mountain to parts unknown. To my eyes, any of the rocky outcrops up there could have qualified, so we walked to all of them. I never did find a benchmark.
The vistas from the summit of Bull Mountain — and throughout the drive up — were otherworldly, spanning past the northern half of Great Salt Lake and Promontory Point. It was chilly but almost entirely still — I could have spent the better part of a day soaking it all in.

Bull Mountain
This was the first in my quest to summit all 26 of Utah's county high points. My party and I used VBlueV's trip report as the basis of our route (https://www.summitpost.org/bull-mountain-from-clear-creek-july-2014/905511). The GPS coordinates were very helpful, but we didn't like all the bushwhacking involved. After reaching the summit, we consulted a USGS map we had and decided to head back down in a more northerly direction than the Lake Fork route. We followed the contours of a ridge until it dumped us onto the Bull Flat trail (we later discovered). It involved less bushwhacking and was overall a much better trail, although a bit longer than the Lake Fork trail.
I hiked up, and it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. Barely any bushwhacking. The cirque was beautiful and worth the hike alone. It snowed on me at the top!

A First For Me...
Well, it's not the most glorious way to a summit, but we drove to the top of this one. We also tried driving from the top down to Bull Lake... That didn't work so well.

Drive up
Didn't see the point of doing what's described as an unpleasant bushwhack when there's a road to the top and lots of other peaks in the area. Also went to George Peak, 9335 and Bally Mountains HP.
I hiked up from Clear Creek Campground. I completely lost the trail above 8500' - lots of bushwhacking. The cirque is pretty cool. The summit is sort of a downer and views weren't great due to hazy air. I started to descend via Bull Canyon and quickly lost the trail after the spring shown on the map. I bushwhacked for a while before giving up and heading back the way I came.
7/13/2013 From the Clear Creek Campground. We missed the cutoff trail to the appropriate drainage, therefore we found ourselves bushwhacking through mass undergrowth, deadfall, and stinging nettle to gain the ridge. From the ridge we gained the plateau close to 2 miles before the summit. We found ourselves wondering a bit before we tracked down the summit cairn. Pretty discouraging seeing a road to the top after several hours of miserable hiking. Took a couple summit photos amongst the cattle before returning to our camp.

Clear Creek!!!
The route from Clear Creek is amazing! So diverse. The middle portion was incredibly green with ferns and mosses and all sorts of short lush ground cover. Very out of character witht he rest of the area around here that I have seen. The cirque up top was another treat. The viw from the actual highpoint is good, but if you hike a few minutes south you get the expanse of the Salt Flats and the Great Salt Lake. You can see Ibapah in the distance, but what looks so bizarre from this point of view is the reclusive Desert Peak in the Newfoundland range. Extremely isolated. I thought I could make out Spiral Jetty in my monocular. Just wanted to say that Clear creak is the way to go. This was one of my favorite of the Utah county summits as a result and I only have 3 left so that says something. If you are driving to the top that is OK, but maybe you should question yourself as to just why you are doing th e county highpoints in the first place.
This was a nice peak en route tyo a family reunion in Albion ID.

Did this on the scenic route to the Salt Lake airport. Smoke from Nevada made it seem like it was perpetual twilight, but there were lots of wildlife. I'd love to go back when I could actually see more.

Bittersweet attempt
Attempted to summit Bull Mountain, had some difficulty losing the trail through the groves below the lake and meadow area. Hiking partner wasn't too excited about route finding (not a big deal for myself but was freaking her out), so I conceded to come back another time to complete the trip.
The western columbines were in blossom along the creak, and I would have to say that it was the most unexpected and perhaps most impressive display of wildflowers that I have ever seen. Hallowed ground for me.

Drove until the snow blocked the road, which left about 2.5 miles each way. Nice hike, but I did get a fair amount of strange looks from hunters that were trying to understand what I was doing, walking my dog up there.
