I hiked to the popular summit of Little Calf, then continued to the much less popular summit of Calf.

Calf mountain and bear den
Hello, I wanted to thank a thru hiker last night who was going to the Calf Mountain shelter. She found one of our bags which had some delicious Gatorade and water inside, so I just want to thank her again for finding us and letting us know about it. She was carrying a yorkie dog in her bag, which was pretty cool. Sorry you have to worry about owls getting him. Let us know how your trip is going...

Bear Den and Calf
I started out from McCormick Gap and summited Bear Den Mountain. From there, I went on to Calf Mountain, where it started sprinkling as I was eating lunch. I didn't mind as it was pretty warm that day.
Like the overview says, there isn't really anything exciting about this one. Still, the summit is a nice open meadow, with views in every direction. It'd be great for a picnic, although it was a little windy and cool that day.
