Cam Hooks at the Beach!

September 11, 2011 - Trying out cam hooks at the San Francisco beach, about to hook the fascia of the sea wall. The best way to spend a rainy mountain weekend in the City!

Concrete

If you try this in Montreal you'll break the A5+ barrier!

Re: Concrete

lol, the concrete is a little eroded there, huh? From the salt & freeze-thaw action?

Pretty much

imagine 35 ton slabs on concrete dropping on a normally bumper to bumper 'speed'way.

Half the bridge lanes are closed for safety reasons...

Re: Pretty much

Like these?

If you look closely you can still see the axle of the truck that brought the bridge down.

Re: Pretty much

funny how my comment & image are cut off.
What I meant to say was if you look closely you can still see the axle of the truck that brought the interchange bridge down. This was a memorable photography day for me.

Montreal is falling down

2 of our main bridges (1 the busiest in Canada!) are falling apart and are half closed for emergency repairs.

Profile pic

Appropriate gear for a structural engineer. Nice line of work.

Interesting pic of the bridge. A lot more such problems around - the use of non-galvanised reebar, combined with the use of road salt in winter. Such a dumb ass combination and even dumber authorities that don't plan.
