In some parts of theUnited States, these birds are called "Camp Robbers."
They're especially fond of peanut butter and jelly (PBJ) sandwiches!
Liba, you must be popular. Your name is mentioned HERE! : ))

In Oregon they arecalled Washington Jays and in Washington they are called Oregon Jays. Neither state wants to claim them. Camp robber also works well for these sometimes pests.

Re: In Oregon they areI'm very far from being a "birding" expert.
But ... in Canada where my ancestors on my
Father's side originated from, these birds are
affectionately known as :
"Whiskey Jacks" !!! : )
Perhaps 'MountaingirlBC' knows more about
how the bird got its name ???
