I've had that same thing happen with horse riders, at Grand Canyon and here in Utah on the Deseret Peak Loop. They looked at a friend and I like mad beasts for hiking 8 miles. How long did that take you? They wondered. Made me want to know if they ride horses to get the mail. There really is no way to answer that sort of question. Unless its flippantly maybe, "well I wanted to see if these doodads called legs were up to it".
