Capitol Questions ?

I've been getting several route-finding questions regarding Capitol Butte. You want to start early. From the Sugarloaf trail, you can see the standard route as it follows the main gully(leading to the pass east of Lizard Head.) If you stay within the gully, it's much safer because you can grab onto brush (bushwack) and proceed to the secondary gully adjacent to the west ridge, seen below the left skyline in this picture from this prospective.

A great time to climb Capitol Butte is periods of fair weather, which are usually seen in March, April or May. Yes, rattlesnakes would be a concern in the spring when they spring out of bed. Good luck to you !!!
