Canyons & Bison  Sucess!

Decided to check out Caprock Canyons State Park while taking my son on a college visit to Texas Tech. What a surprise! This area reminded me of a little Sedona or Utah. We hiked up South Prong to the ridge. Great views and some fun slick rock scrambling. We ran across a wild Bison, and my son found fossilized shells in the wash. The ranger told us about a slot canyon. We found a small one, but never found the one she was talking about. Needless to say, it was a great day and makes this flat area of Texas a bit more fun!

hidden gem  Sucess!

I had been to the more well known Palo Duro a bunch of times before this but I have to say that Caprock might actually be nice and it has the Texas State Bison Herd, which I really enjoyed watching. The Rock is so red it looks like it should be in Utah
