Solo, completely alone from car-to-car. Terrific trio of 13ers. Went counterclockwise.

Warning about the 'Fiascol'
I was part of a group of 4 that attempted Casco on this day via the notorious Fiascol route from the N Clear Lake trailhead. The danger of this loose talus/scree slope is not made clear in Roach's book, Colorado Thirteeners, and I don't see where others warn about it, so I'm posting this here. Climbing helmets highly recommended, and extra care should be taken to ascend with enough distance between your party to dodge the loose rock that is unavoidable to send down. One of our party had zero rock climbing experience, and so had to turn back, and I went back with her for safety reasons. The other two in our party made it, but expressed grave reservations about the stressfulness of the route. It is not one I intend to repeat! The approach from Half Moon looks much safer, though longer.
Hiked with Chris & James Oliver. Nice finale of the French, "Frasco" and Casco trio. Great day with better weather than expected. It was a dry season, so the stream crossing was nothing. I was glad to have an upgraded skid plate on my 4Runner for the really rough road to the broken bridge one mile above.
With Rachael. Southeast Ridge, then Francisco traverse to French and back down the road. Hadn't been up these in 14 years! A repeat that was a long time coming, fun traverse.

I knew things would turn ugly when I was barely supported with snowshoes on the way up on a clear, warm day. Tricker-than-expected snowshoe-scrambling getting from the saddle to the summit, then some more getting to "Frasco" on my way to French. Trip report.

persistence
two tries....steve and i made an attempt on casco january 6th, but turned back ~12,100' at 2:45pm after spending hours trenching to our knees and seemingly not getting far at all.
everything changed on jan 19th, sarah, dominic and i cruised the trench from two weeks ago, and the snow in the willows was firm this time around! made casco's summit(#55 winter) around noon then started the long ridge to french.

From Lackawanna to French
N Fork Lk TH and NW slopes route up Lackawanna. Then over to Casco and on to French via Frasco BM. Descent into basin to E of Casco-Frasco Col from about half way down to col from Frasco BM (loose red gravel; perfect for descending), and back down to TH. A wonderful ridge-y loop. Nothing beyond 2+.

Lovely scramble from fresco/french mountain - little slippery on snow, but fun scramble. Great partners: Sarah and Senad. I hope they did not mind that Duchess tried to eat their food. :)

Third peak of the day, Casco is nice very peak, not sure about class 2, it was more like class 3 at the top.

FFC from South Halfmoon Creek TH
Woo! This was a fine way to end a three peak day! The new snow on the route made the going much more interesting. Liba picked a line that scared my socks off in the snowy/icy conditions, but we basked in the afternoon sun on this gorgeous summit of boulders and enjoyed a few final pulls of Irish Mist on the slopes below. With Senad, Liba and Dutchess the Cheese Dog!
Standard route from Halfmoon TH: up French, over to Frasco, then Casco, down via the Casco's saddle with Bull Hill. Shawn parked his 4Runner shortly after the first creek crossing. Made pretty good time: 11.6 miles in 7h40m - but there is a LOT of easy road walking.

there is a little interesting ridge work (by Sawatch standards) to get from Frasco over to Casco. Pleasant area but nothing spectacular
French, Frasco and Casco. From Iron Mike Mine, ascended the grassy slope to the summit of French, then traversed over to Frasco and Casco. Roughest part was the Frasco side of the Frasco/Casco ridge. Descended the saddle between Bull Hill and Casco.

Note I thought the slope up to that 13,200 foot saddle was looser than the slope up to the Pacific Tarn from Mohawk Lakes!
