Nice day for a hike. It's doubtful I'll bother with Cat Knob again, though.
Did the out-and-back from Booten's Gap parking area. Although there was some snow on the route, Hazeltop was quite easy, and I practically jogged up and down. The Laurel Gap trail and the climb up Cat Knob proved to be more challenging and enjoyable. It was a beautiful day for it, and I didn't see anyone else on the trip.
The skies were clear and there were some views of the nearby mountains.
Cat Knob is really just one of several summits of Jones Mountain. It is nice to include on a Hoover Camp loop that starts at Bootens Gap.
Nice long hike with Cat Knob as an interesting side hike. Conditions were near 60 degrees in January with blue skies!
