Cathedral Mtn

The mountain gets its name from the colored scree on its flanks, which in places form near-gothic arcs of color. (You can see the arched patterns better in this shot, but it's not as colorful.) A couple of the white pixels in this shot are actually Dall's sheep. Denali Park, June 2003. This was originally uploaded for the "mountains of extreme color" album; I'm also attaching it to the Alaska Range page as there's no Cathedral Mountain page. Question time!

I've already asked several people. WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE between a Dall's sheep & a Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep. Is it just a distribution issue, or a coloration one ???

they're classed as separate species - they do have distinct distributions but there are apparently physical differences too (besides the fact that Dall's are strikingly white).
