Absolutely beautiful! When was this pic taken?
I added the date - January 1st, 1984. I am slowly scanning all of my slides into digital images.
What route did you take? Where did you start and stop? It looks like maybe you're on the PCT? Or is it the Bubb's Creek side where you are?
Mono Lake > Bloody Canyon > Mono Pass > Tuolomne Meadows > Cathedral Lake > Cathedral Pass > Sunshine Camp > Little Yosemite > Yosemite Valley
Very cool, thanks. Do you think there's much avy danger on that route? It's something I've always wanted to do.
That is an epic trip! I hope you had other pics from that trip and you would post them as an album!
There is significant avalanche danger on the Tioga Road. I didn't think there was much avalanche danger elsewhere on the route - until I saw an avalanche from a dome (see this photo). So I guess any winter travel comes with some avalanche danger.
Yes there are other photos, I posted a trip report
Just looking at the picture makes me want to climb it, very Third Encounters. Don't forget to add the image to the main Cathedral Peak page! Looking forward to the rest of your slides. I have a lot of non-digital shots that need converting too.
Thanks, I will add it to the Cathedral Peak page
What a beautiful picture. Would you mind if I added this shot to my "Skinning Up Snowy Mountains" album? Thanks for posting.
I would be honored to have this photo in your album, thank you.
Gets me excited for winter.
looks like an awesome day/trip.
Thank you, it pays to be in the right place at the right time.
great pic, I have camped right there! Somewhere near shore is some exposed rock that offers good low impact camping during the summer. What a beautiful place. Plus, I heard John Muir himself did the first ascent of the peak.
Cool place, huh? Glad to hear that you're another low-impact camper!
