Had to come back a few years later  Sucess!

The first time I came to climb this peak, I had a new dog with me. We backpacked 6 miles up Berry Creek and then she disappeared. That really sucked and I didn't know what to do. Eventually I hiked back to the truck and there she was, up on top of the hood, howling. Weirdo. So relieved to find the dog, and I refer to that trip as the 12 mile/1 day/0 nights backpacking trip. I finally came back and did a 2 night backpack (with no dog) starting from Jahnke Creek road. Got on the CDT north and then continued up to Berry Lake for a camp. Next morning hauled the pack up to the Divide, which didn't seem like a very normal thing to do but it went well. Dropped pack, went and climbed Center Mountain. Excellent. Grabbed my pack and continued south on the Divide for some miles until hitting the CDT again. Really nice terrain and views. Found some water and had a camp, returning to my vehicle the next day.
This was another great hike!

Idaho ascent route  Sucess!

Isolated country for sure, but very scenic. Found some sizable snow fields to work through, but they were manageable.

Strange item of the day: a stray dog popped out of the brush behind me on the hike out. That nerved me just a little! After some debate, loaded the poor girl up and left her at the Salmon Animal Shelter.
