Short little jaunt from the pull-out below the transmission towers, though the road is steep and rocky. The last log entry was two weeks prior. Views east into the deep desert were spectacular...
I hiked up Cerro Gordo and Pleasant Mountain on the same pleasant spring day.
Drove up to ghost town and parked in the designated parking spot. Robert came down to greet us and show us around. We signed the register book and got permission to access Cerro Gordo. The road past the ghost town is steep.
Bruno and I parked above the ghost town and hiked up both summits of Cerro Gordo as well as Pleasant Point.
With Gimpilator. We parked a little past the ghost town at the radio towers. Pretty much the whole area is private property but we asked the caretaker if we could hike Cerro Gordo and Pleasant Point; after signing his logbook, we were on our way.
According to Robert (new caretaker) the owners of the road (ATT I think?) are no longer allowing people on their property due to some idiot shooting up equipment. He still let us pass on through, but if you don't want to go through the town take the ridge from the saddle. Road approach is super easy and quick though. Look for the copper mine.
Dayhiked after Pleasant point with Bob Burd.
North slope from the saddle in 2000 and the switchback road to the south slope in '08.
