Icy  Sucess!

Climbed the Negro Couloir after Ramada in our trip in the Valle del Colorado. Did the full climb from our basecamp. The couloir was pretty much under full ice conditions, which made it rather exciting. The bergshrund was overhanging except on the far left.

Had an unplanned bivy when I rushed ahead and descended the wrong way.

Route Climbed: Snow Gully Date Climbed: 14th December 2001  Sucess!

In December 2001 and January 2002 I spent with a friend 6 weeks in Argentina and Chile. First we climbed several summits in the Cordón de la Ramada. The first one was Cerro Negro.

This mountain belongs to the Cordón de la Ramada with Cerro Mercedario as the highest elevation within this group. Cerro Negro stands almost in the centre of five 6000m summits and represents an excellent viewpoint.

We climbed Cerro Negro on the 14th December 2001.
