Went up a few times with my family. Saw a Red Fox run across the road right below the trail head. Great water views in clear weather. One of many peaks in Acadia with amazing summit views.
Got there two days before they were supposed to have opened it but lucky for us the falcons were done nesting, or whatever they had been doing. Very fun trail with some crowds but nothing too bad.
On my only visit to Acadia National Park, it was with great disappointment that I found the Precipice Trail closed due to Peregrine Falcon nesting. It was a foggy day so no great views of the harbor were seen as well.
Did Otter Cliff, Thunder Hole, Beehive, Champlain Mountain, Huguenot Head, Dorr Mountain and Cadillac Mountain from Blackwoods Campground and back. The march down Cadillac's southern ridge was the highlight of the day. Speechless.
Awesome ocean views. I could watch boats and the surf all day.
This Precipice route is ridiculous and fun. Ridiculously FUN. Can't wait to do it with my kids.
Enjoyed the Precipice Trail with my best old 4-legged hiking buddy Rainier. Had to carry her up the ladders. She didn't mind it one bit!
Fun scramble, very warm day.
Walked backward through toll gate but they wouldn't pay us
Great route up the ladders with lots of fun exposure with little chance of danger. The ladders remove the requirement for any technical climbing. Descended via combination of the Bear Brook trail and the East Face trail.
