Yuc!Nice shot! looks like a herd of bugs near the base. Are they that thick everywhere?

Re: Yuc!Thanks! You have a good eye to see the swarm. Actually I didn't even notice them when I took the shot. At times the bugs can get annoying it just depends on the season and temperature.
Cheers,
John

Great picture, John!I'm a sucker FOR Yucca!! I would think the bugs are attracted to the blooms. I can usually stand the bugs! What I don't like is poison oak, and having to hop over rattlesnakes. In the desert of AZ, you can usually avoid castastrophe by studying a good topo. Even then, the 'shin-daggers' and cactus have a way of getting personal with you. THANKS!! Wonderful photography!

Re: Great picture, John!Thanks Icarreau!
This weekend I went to the Huntington Gallery & Botanical Gardens in San Marino Ca. The Desert Garden is nearly 100 years old with over 5,000 cacti varieties on 10 acres. Many blooming now. Even those who don't appreciate cacti were in awe. Well worth the visit: http://www.huntingtonbotanical.org/Desert/facts.htm
