Fun Scramble, part of a six peak loop I did with my friend, Chris. We went up Vivian Creek to San Gorgonio, on to Jepson, East Dobbs, Dobbs, Little Charlton, & Charlton, then down via Falls Creek Trail.
I hiked to Little Charlton first and then went back up the ridge to Charlton Peak. Dollar Lake looked to be completely dry already.
We came up the South Fork to Dollar Lake. We then took a couloir just past Dollar Lake and climbed up till the summit. We couldn't find the summit box because of the snow...Cold on top. We went on to do Little Charlton, Jepson and San G. It was a long and tiring day.
Winter climb with Tony and Kai. Perfect day and we had lunch on the summit. Hit little Charlton right before.
Part of a scout project to place summit registers for an Eagle project for Tim L. We drilled holes in the rocks by hand with star bits. That was work
With Travis -- hiking in Rick's shadow

Great hike. Ascended Moymer Trail, hit all 9 peaks (excluding Mnt San Gorgonio and including Dobbs Peak) and descended bia Dobbs West Ridge. Check out my Trip Report.
4 of 4 peaks today. It was nice to knock this one out because a brewsky was calling my name. Except I had seven more miles to go back to the parking lot.
4th and final peak with Ol' Walsher that day. Hiked up from Little Charlton and then straight down to Dollar Lake Saddle from the summit. After that, we strapped the big packs back on and hiked the 7 miles out to the car at South Fork TH. After a 16 mile, 4 peak day, the cold brews never tasted so good...
Loop hitting both Charltons,Jepson, and San G.
On a 4 day excursion.
Not a bad local summit. Did Little Charlton first then traversed the saddle to Charlton. The walk out ssure seemed a lot longer then the hike up.
Peak 4 of 9 and last one of the day.
This waas our 6th out of nine during a one day Traverse. Not a bad little peak, it kicked our ass getting up.
Dayhiked the 9 peaks, just another bump, views aren't bad though.
Followed the crest over San Bernandino Peak summit to San Bernandino East, Anderson Peak, Shields Peak, Charlton Peak, Little Charlton, Jepson Peak and then the long ridge from Jepson to San Gorgonio. 9 peaks 2 days 26 miles.
Long hard skin in up to 3 feet of new snow. The coverage was good all the way to the parking lot. Fun ski down.
Went from our camp by Dollar Lake and took a route that included some fun 3d class rock. I remember a great view of the "Running Deer" at about the 10,000 foot level on that mountain to the north. After summitting Charlton, we headed down the mountain in a southeast direction to the saddle between Charlton and Little Charlton. Little Charlton was virtually just a few minutes away.
The trail was clear except for patches of snow and ice up to Dollar Lake Saddle. Then we had to put on our crampons. Actually, our objective had been San Gorgonio, but when we realized getting there would mean a descent down an icy slope in the dark, we settled for Charlton. It was a worthy second choice. As it was, we spent an hour or so in the dark on the return to the trailhead but at least then we were on a clear trail.
