Rainy day
Rainy, cloudy day. Climbed the tower and waited for the storm to pass. Met some very nice people. Lovely State Park. Came home with the puppy I found abandoned on the side of the park entrance road, so I got more than a high point from AL.

HP #2 - High on Alabama
Few people in the area on a gray and misting St. Patrick's Day. Parked at the Lake and hiked to the summit with my family - kids are ages 5 and 6, dog age 8. No problems getting them to the top, but we do hike together frequently so they were ready for it. Kudos to the park rangers who keep this area clean and were helpful. Good camp store with patches and stickers as Highpoint souverniers.
Summited Alabamas highest point on a beautiful early November day. Probably a far cry from the weather going on in our native Wisconsin. We were on our way down to Florida to hang out by the beach for several days.

Beautiful day while driving from VA to UT. Cell phone tower was very tempting to climb. Loved the family oriented park at the top and hotel.

I climbed to the Cheaha Mt. tower on a perfect fall day with blue skies. Better views than what I saw earlier that day from Mississippi's high point.

Summited at about mile 40 in the Pinhoti 100 mile trail race. What a great trail.

nice view
Hiked up from the lake. Was a fun hike, but best part was the Rock Gardens. I had to linger there for awhile-- it was beautiful.

1st highpoint
Our first highpoint, drove up... almost too easy for my liking.
Cool tower but there was a Mountain Bike race going on that morning that made it a really crowded place. Kinda felt like we were doing something we shouldn't just by being there.

SHP # 16 of 49 completed
My entire family visited this state highpoint as part of our family quest for them during the period Sept 1985 to September 1987. This was number 16 of my 49 state high points with Vanessa, and number 5 for Hillary and Holly.

I underestimated this one
We hiked from Cheaha Lake, and you gain about 1,000 feet of elevation in 1/4 mile, which was surprising. I like that they've made such a big deal out of the whole area, even if it is pretty commercialized. #16 for me.
A couple friends and I went to AL for the day, just to get this one. Great trip, and pretty easy hike. #2 down!

Driving
Unfortunatly there are no routes leading to the summit so we had to drive but I did get to go to the summit. I wish they didn't put observation towers on the summit. Anyways, climbed the some of the cliffs on the Lake Trail. tons of fun.

Auto Mountaineering
I drove up to the top with my wife and 4 year old son. We had just arrived in Atlanta and this was the first thing we did before heading toward the eastern seaboard.

Jimmy Stewart's HP
I really liked the old Depression era tower. Climbing up the stairs reminded me of the scenes from the tower in Hitchcock's masterpiece Vertigo.

23rd state highpoint
Beautiful sunny morning and I was the only one at the tower. Hazy in the distance. I found a benchmark in a rock on the west side of the building, but it was a secondary marker.

Nice views
After starting down the wrong trail from the lake, I finally found the trailhead for the Lake Trail at a different spot than shown on the map. I stopped to enjoy the views from the Rock Garden, then wandered in circles searching for the unmarked Rock Garden trail, which led to the cabins. Then I bushwacked up to the top because there is apparently no trail. A correct trail map, better marking for the Rock Garden trail, and a summit trail would be nice, but I enjoyed hiking there anyway. HP10
