#59 on second run through of the DPS list. Drove down from Las Vegas in the morning, climbed the peak (people make too much ado about the cholla. Yes, it's thick in there, but easily avoidable), then drove over to the TH for Stepladder.
Remote, beautiful granite desert. Beware crumbly, treacherous rock and cholla cactus "land-mines"! Amazing views from the summit.
With Bob and Matthew
Climbed with Ed...memories of tons of choya blocking our route!
Climbed in the afternoon after Stepladder Mountain in the morning.
With Tom Becht and Matthew Holliman, also did Whipple in the afternoon. Trip Report.
This was part of an 8 day trip in which I also did Kingston, East Ord, Kelso Dunes, Whipple, Cady, Mastadon, Eagle, and attempted Clark. Chemehuevi was one of my favorites of the trip.
