Done many times... first time with my dog. Nice quick local hike.
I've done this peak a number of times because of its convenient location, but this is the date from my first ascent. There is no well defined path. We came up the east side and zig-zagged our way to the peak. There is a flagpole there and great views of the city. The rocks are razor sharp, so gloves are highly recommended.
Ascended the entire north ridge in evening light after hiking Potosi that morning. This peak has awesome fossils along the crest (see photos in the link below).
Other peaks we did during this trip include; Potosi, Muddy Mountain, Muddy Peak, Virgin, The Orphan, Silica Dome, Cairn, The Sentinel, East Redstone, Redstone, Mystery Cairn, Vista, Hayford, Clark, McCullough, Spirit, Stepladder, Big Maria, False Maria, Black Butte, Chuckwalla, Pinto, Orocopia, Toro, Santa Rosa, and Thomas.

Best route is from the north: stroll up the jeep trail until it starts to loop around the mountain, then hike directly up and southwards along the ridge. Fine views and some easy class 2/3 scrambling.
Had a fun time scrambling up in the late afternoon. Went up to the summit, walked the ridge to the smaller north peak, came back, and headed down as the sun set and the lights came on along the Strip. Got back to the car in the dark.
Left the nearby park and scrambled up without a sure path. Got caught up trying to go around West and found no ledge. Double backed East and was able to get up and down easily there.
Our group did this nice hike up Cheyenne Mountain late in the afternoon. It was very windy on top of the ridge. I found a small register on the summit.
Great weather for hiking this little hill today. This would be a nice workout for those days you don't feel like hitting the gym.
great hike, good views great for pictures, from the peak follow it north and you come to an old fort or something like that.
Quick up and down with my son Travis; great weather and views.
Via the NE Ridge. Wonderful evening hike. Def beats the treadmill.
Done this one a couple dozen times, via the East Face, Northeast Ridge, Northwest Ridge, Southeast Ridge (Direct), Southeast Ridge to Southwest Face, South Ridge and South Face.
-09/16/10: Climbed it again via the south ridge. Although I originally stated the route was 5.6, I must now say that it's quite a lot easier (YDS 5.2), though the (psychological) crux (YDS 5.0) is still every bit as spicy as I remembered it from my last time a few years ago.
Short hike up the NE ridge. Great views of Summerlin Peak and Las Vegas.
