Chia

Chia (Salvia columbariae) encountered in S Cove Wash. Lake Mead Area, Nevada. April 2008. Chia is a small fast growing annual herb from the Mint Family. It can be found below 4000 feet. You will smell it before you see it. Its seeds are edible.

Nice picture !

Chia is a very beautiful flower. In Poland, we don't have this particular kind of Salvia, but there are six other species of Salvia. They all have medicinal properties. Thank you for posting, Henryk.

Thank you for the comment. They don't get much water in the wash where they grow so they were very low to the ground. Their smell was amazingly strong though. I wish I could post their fragrance, too. Greetings, AJ.
