Second time Fred and I have hiked this. Pleasant hike, nice views. Good huckleberry picking.

Nice views after a moderate climb, onto south chilco.

big payoff for minor effort
Ignore directions in the book Dayhiking Spokane Area or you'll waste a lot of time. Somewhat steep hike at first but in under an hour you're enjoying views of Scotchman, Lake Pend Oreille, Mt. Spokane, etc on a bare summit. Continued on to South Chilco after this one.

Huckleberry Heaven
With two families worth of huckleberry pickers, we ended up with two large water canteens worth (they were all over in the bushes off to the side of the trail), which made for tasty homemade shakes and pancakes later. There were great views of Lake Pend Oreille from the top.
Cute little mountain. My parents made it up too. I also headed over to South Chilco.

I made it to the summit in about an hour and a half. What an incredible view from the top. I will return someday soon, and hopefully my wife can make it up with me next time.

Main Trail
A chilly evening hike to the summit to watch the sunrise with a friend. Too bad I forgot the memory card for my camera in my computer! Had a nice jog back down to the car in the waning light.

Trail 14
What I remember is pulling out the transistor radio and listening to former Mariner pitcher Jamie Moyer throw a great game and pick up a win. Can't say that I remember who he beat though.
