Cho Oyu summit panorama - annotated

This annotated panorama, taken from just below Cho Oyu's summit plateau looking west right after dawn, is the result of many hours of research as well as valuable collaborations with new internet friends. SP member Snowflake posted this unbelievable panorama here, and I was fascinated by the sheer number of peaks in the shot. This led me to want to find out their names, and learn about them, so I decided to annotate this pano. My research brought me to some new friends - SP member Bruno Tibet was extremely helpful, providing information in a variety of formats and checking my work. Jonathan at viewfinderpanorama.org was very helpful, as well. Many thanks to Snowflake for permission to annotate and repost, and thanks to Nicky (who took the movie) also. I learned that there are conflicting names and elevations for almost every one of the peaks I've labelled. I have done my best to use the most reliable info I could find. Credit goes to Bruno and Jonathan for the success of this endeavor. Of course, the errors are all mine. Enjoy & Merry Christmas, Big Lew

Indeed!

I must confess - I had some expert help along the way. SP Member Bruno, Guenter Seyfferth - creator of www.himalaya-info.org, and Jonathan Ferranti who runs http://www.viewfinderpanoramas.org/ all pitched in with comments, corrections, and advice.

But IMHO it IS pretty kewl - so many peaks, so little time!

Like said - I really enjoy doing this, it's FUN for me!

Peace,

Big Lew
