"Chocolate Falls"

April 6 2010. Grand Falls of the Little Colorado River. This sometimes called "Niagra of the West" was formed by a lava flow from nearby Merriam Crater that choked off the canyon and created a lake upstream. Eventually the river (seasonal) at last found a way past the lava plug and spilled over it's own canyon wall giving birth to the spectacle we see today.
