I think this is a cool, uniquely colored little peak that affords incredible views of he surrounding highcountry. Definitely worth he side trip!!! En route from camp at Palisade Basin to he South Lakes TH. So glad I took this side trip! Njad the peak to myself!
Best place in the Sierra to play the Oreo game! Fun day in the mountains with great friends!
Easy get on the way out after a weekend at Bishop Lake.
That's about it...
I love the 360 view from this relatively minor peak.
After passing this many times going to/from other peaks, I finally scrambled up the south side and down the north.
Nice warmup for the next day's ascent of Mt. Agassiz. We were camping at Saddlerock Lake and hiked over the ridge to Ruwau and then up the ride and followed the cairns. Picnic on top!
Took Chocolate Lakes trail to south side and then down north face, which was a lot of fun.
Nice warmup hike
Did a quick hike up this peak after a weekend backpack trip.
South Ridge, via the clockwise loop of Bull, Chocolate, and Ruwau lakes.
Part of my first backpack into the Sierra, camped at Long Lake.
Took my girlfriend on her first East Side trip, including her first summit (Chocolate Peak)! Yay
ugly but fun
Did a loop out of South Lake trailhead past Chocolate Lakes, Ruwau Lake, and Long Lake. I got to the top of Chocolate Peak with a quick cross-country hike from the saddle to its southeast. The top has excellent views for the effort required to get there.
Trip report of my Chocolate Peak loop hike.
Fun way to kill an afternoon.
This was a great hike for my father and me. We weren't too sure when to leave the trail to traverse up the backside of Chocolate, but told each other there's only one way but up! It was a great day..
Had planned on just doing the Chocolate Lakes Loop with my son Kevin but found it extremely fun climbing to the top. Sweet vistas all around.
Took the dog out for a walk up this very easy Cl. 1 peak. Snow on trail the whole way
In 2000 and 2002.
Made this peak alot more interesting with class 3/4 on snowy choss. Lots of fun, this is a great little peak with outstanding views. I wouldn't know, it was snowing all the way up, and the summit ridge had about 100 yards of visibility!
