Christmas Meadows Sunset

Christmas Meadows Sunset

During the early summer months while staying at Christmas Meadows campground, we were inundated with heavy rain for a couple of days. One late afternoon the skys started to clear and I thought it wise to dust off the camera gear and take a walk outside to see what might become of the 'after the storm light'. As the sun set it provided me with an outrageous array of color as vivid as I have ever seen. Some would say, oh that looks like you have boosted the color saturation in Photoshop and my response would be, it sure looks good on slide film. Compliments of Fujichrome Velvia 100. Nikon N80, Sigma 24-135 zoom at 24mm 3s @ F22.

Wow, still shooting slide film

And I thought I was the only one! While I have a canon powershot g5 (a fantastic 5mp camera) I cannot put my SLR and Velvia away. With a grad nd set, nothing beats it. Yet.

Admittedly...

...my first thought when I saw this spectacular shot was "little heavy with the saturation tool in Photoshop", but to know this is the real deal is fantastic. There are rare moments when conditions combine to form a surreal environment and you were so fortunate to be there. Nice work!
