Just to say though, the original intention had been JUST Cima di Jazzi - but once that Peak Monster spotted the other peaks - well, one thing led to another and I was a trifle more tired than I'd anticipated my first day back in the Alps!
The night before we had camped on the glacier at almost 3100m, right next to the Stockhorn, and today we traversed the ridge from Grosses Fillarhorn to Cima di Jazzi before heading back to camp.

Normal from Macugnaga via ref Sella and passo Jachini.
Large panorama over the gorner, a nice prosepctive on the allalin group. A corner of wilderness, a bit far form the crowd.

Route Climbed: Normal Route (on skis) from Stockhorn lift Date Climbed: March 1976
Very pleasant and short climb on skis . The ski descent over glaciers was easy. The local guide for our group was Ulrich Inderbinen, an amazingly fit mountaineer (at that time he was 76 years old but he kept on guiding long after he turned 90!!!).
I repeated this ski tour in 1997 in the company of my oldest son (at the time 15 y/o) who subsequently joined me on many other climbs to loftier peaks. The view of the sheer drop to Italy [when one reaches the unimpressive summit dome] is like " icing on the cake!"
Route Climbed: Stockhorn -> Cima di Jazzi -> Gant Date Climbed: Apr 13, 2005
Excellent decent due to great snow conditions -- 10cm fresh -- and perfect, warm blue skies. Easy, uneventful ascent. The slope directly from the summit was great "wide-open" no turns high-speed cruising skiing (well a bunch of people were making turns but I didn't see the point) which gradually flattens out to the point that some pushing is necessary. Walking by skins would probably be necessary in deeper snow. Great feeling to cruise on such a wide open space surrounded by high peaks, although it is quite flat so don't expect a death-defying decent or anything.
