Great way to make a nice long loop and tag a lot of peaks on the way (Cirque, 12525, 12417 & 12336. The only part I didn’t like was going down the Cottonwood Pass trail.

To Cirque with Love
The first time I traversed Cirque, I included Peak 12369 (aka Army Pass Point), Peak 12525 and Trailmaster in the loop. On another occasion, I hiked up Cirque Peak via New Army Pass and then descended from Cirque Peak directly to Cirque Lake (not recommended). Lately I like to start on the Cottonwood Lakes trail but quickly leave it and approach Cirque Peak from the east and south by way of Peak 10661, Peak 11605, Trailmaster and Peak 12525.

One to try againStarted with fervor up New Army Pass (loads of people on Labor Day weekend), but was turned back by high wind. At least I got away from the crowds.
Went and did the lower portion of this loop the following autumn all the way up to the peak above Chicken Spring Lake. It's all fantastic dry country.
