Sweeping skies above SF Bay from Ring Mountain

Don and I took a leisurely existential hike on Ring Mountain north of the Golden Gate on a beautiful Saturday evening. We discussed everything from the spiritual workings of Indian Satgurus to gold mining in Nevada as the overhead sky made grand statements with a paintbrush of cirrus clouds.

Cute title!

And amazing shots, especially of the birds!

Re: Cute title!

Thanks Kathy. The little kestrel seemed as curious as me and let me get within about 20 ft.
Hope you're having a great summer!

Creative content ...

Did you and Don discuss the "Yosemite Rim Fire ?"

Somebody told me you could see the smoke from the Bay Area.

Re: Creative content ...

We did not discuss the rim fire. It's been pretty clear around here
lately Larry. I'm going for a hike up in the hills later and will look for any smoke signals on the eastern horizon. I know Tahoe is smoked in today. All depends on which way the wind blows. I'm happy to stay put this weekend. What with the Bay Bridge closed til tuesday and the rim fire/Labor Day weekend...?

Re: Creative content ...

Oh ... what's up with the Bay Bridge?

That was an "unreliable" source, by the way. When do you folks
have problems with fog ... is it usually after Sept. 15th when
Bay Area residents experience fog-related issues ??

I never did like fog. My wife digs it, however.

Re: Creative content ...

It is closed until Tuesday morning to fix some structural damage in cross rod beams or something like that.
Fog usually starts rolling in around June. I like to photograph it but not be in it! I don't see how people can stand to live in that concrete fog dungeon down the road called SF. :)

Re: Creative content ...

Are you actually thinking 'bout opening up a gold mine in Nevada?

I love the wide open spaces of Nevada and Arizona,
but I'm always attracted, (like a moth to a blow-torch), to the
Neon jungles where all the kitty cats congregate.

Re: Creative content ...

I'm not even remotely about to open a gold mine anywhere except the "weird scenes inside the gold mine" in my head.

One of my Morrison favorites, but time to crash on the sofa.
